Lil’ Wayne Ft. Pharrell- Yes (Link 2)

There really is no doubt. Weezy is definitely the craziest, if not the best, rapper alive. He also seems inseparable from his mic at the moment, due to the flurry of tunes that are finding their way out of the studio. ‘Yes’, his collabo with Pharrell, is the latest output from Wayne’s musical wonderland… we are all invited.

Pharrell brings some really, really gritty beats to the table. They rise no higher than the the lower audible levels, assaulting your ears with some strange fuzzy bass kicks. The onslaught is only broken by a few reverse scratches, and the N.E.R.D. frontman quickly moves out of the way for Lil’ Wayne. I hate to say it, but even Pharrell sounds like he knows he’s rolling out the red carpet… This gesture, however, is not without reason:

His rhymes are often disgusting (seriously) but you cannot doubt that Wayne has some serious talent. His image since ‘Tha Carter III’ has been off the chart, and he keeps lending a few verses here and there to keep exposure up. ‘Yes’ is no different. I have to give props to the guy for his insane lyrics: “keep my hair shampooed and yes I keep my hands sanitized” but sometimes they are lost on me.

Regardless, ‘Yes’ is another solid addition to the pantheon of ace Weezy tracks (most of the things he has released). You have to wonder: is this guy ever going to slow down?
