The Temper Trap – The Science of Fear

Earlier today a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to come and see these Aussie stormtroopers live, and this propulsive electro-rock monster was the deal-breaker.

TTT whip up a storm of  noise with a somersaulting vocal take vying for supremacy over the top of it: “The Science of Fear” already sounds like it will burn up the dancefloor at either your average indie joint or clubs frequented only by people in arseless PVC  chaps; the two remixes of this that I’ve heard suggest that it’s one Erol Alkan set away from becoming a dancefloor staple.

Apparently their drummer recently expressed a desire in interview to make a record based solely on the  sound of Sting being punched in the face: whilst you have to admire their novel approach to percussion,  for the moment I’d prefer them to save that for the record label’s deluxe repackaged version of this album once it’s gone platinum; in the meantime we’ll have to settle for just plain excellence like this.
