Kanye keeps the good times rolling… with the help of some friends.

It doesn’t look like Kanye is going to be moving out of the public conscious anytime soon. As well as a duet with Clipse and a spot on ‘Poke Her Face’, ‘Ye appears on ‘Magic Man’ with Malik Yusef, Common and John Legend, and has ‘Say You Will’ covered by Mos Def. The guy is everywhere…

The return to rapping is re-assuring. After a summer of touring with auto-tune, I predict a move back to his original style. Whilst some might question his latest work, no true music fan can doubt the genius of his trilogy, beginning with the classic ‘College Dropout’. ‘Magic Man’ is laid back, and clearly trying to avoid any of the current gimmicks in urban music, including Auto-Tune, ‘Swagga Like Us’ sampling and loud beats. It succeeds.

Mos Def- Say You Will (Kanye West Cover) (Link 2)

Mos takes a risk covering one of Kanye’s more processional songs, but it really pays off. On ‘808’s & Heartbreak’, the last few minutes are simply the basic beats, but Mos Def pulls the vocals off without the aid of Auto-Tune, and adds in his own verses to spice things up. The live band are tight, with some fun keytar and brass. How did it take so long for this to get on the net!?
